RESERVANET   


A PILLAR OF AN ALTERNATIVE ECONOMY

'There is no single microchip or commercially available device that can store 1 exabyte (EB)—equivalent to one billion gigabytes. Currently, 1 exabyte of data requires a large data center spanning multiple server racks. However, cutting-edge research in DNA data storage is making it possible to fit such massive amounts of data in microscopic volumes. 
The Physical Reality of 1 Exabyte
To give you an idea of the sheer scale of 1 EB of data:
  • Conventional Drives: If you were to use the largest modern enterprise hard drives (around 30 TB to 50 TB each), you would need roughly 20,000 to 30,000 of them. They would easily fill a large warehouse or hundreds of server racks. 
  • Solid State: For consumer-level SSDs or micro-SD cards, the highest widely available capacities max out around 1 to 4 Terabytes. Fitting 1 Exabyte would take millions of them.
How to Fit 1 Exabyte on a "Microchip"
Because electronic silicon chips are planar (2D) and have physical limits to how many transistors you can squeeze onto them, scientists are turning to biological and 3-dimensional technologies to push data density to the absolute limit:
  • DNA Data Storage: This is the most promising technology for miniaturizing exabytes. Instead of using silicon chips, scientists encode digital information (0s and 1s) into the base pairs of synthetic DNA (A, T, C, G). 
  • The Scale: A single gram of DNA can theoretically store over 250 million DVDs or about 1 Exabyte of information. 
  • The Microchip: Researchers (such as those at Georgia Tech Research Institute) have developed prototype silicon-based "DNA chips" outfitted with millions of tiny microscopic wells. These chips synthesize massive amounts of DNA in parallel, allowing a physical device about the size of a postage stamp or a 1-inch square to house petabytes to exabytes of storage capacity.'


The ReservaNet is an offline Internet and is an important pillar of the Alternative Economy. 

The ReservaNet is a device and will hopefully be feasible to design and produce as a small device, smaller than a mobile phone which can be easily carried about. At some time perhaps as research and capabilities increase it could be designed and manufactured to be small enough to fit inside a mobile phone, tablet phone, laptop and or desktop computer. 

However this recommendation looks at developing a small data storage device which can connect to a phone and store as much data as users would likely require.

The understanding of the functioning of the ReservaNet is quite clear. When a person goes to the Internet to browse, the entire Internet site as much as is feasible that the person visits is immediately downloaded while the person is browsing and continues to be downloaded till the download is complete.

The next time the person is on the Internet only a top up of downloading is required. What this means is that the entire data on that Internet site that is feasible to download is available offline through the ReservaNet. This means that the person has access to that information without connecting to the Internet. It's like a gargantuan cache but better. For certain applications like email and online posting this does not address the actual communications but what it specifically solves is information access. Therefore every Internet site that provides some form of information, like news sites, university sites, company sites, government sites, embassy and immigration sites and others can all be downloaded entirely on the ReservaNet as much as is feasible. Not all Internet sites upload new information every day. However for those that do it just means a small amount of information would not be available per time. Every time the ReservaNet is online it updates the current status of that Internet site whether the person visits that site or not. If the person does not want that Internet site again on the ReservaNet the entire Internet site that has been downloaded on the ReservaNet can be deleted from the data storage. In addition to that the person having a ReservaNet actually has the capacity to streamline which part of an Internet site would be downloaded by effecting that in the settings legally. This means that the ReservaNet enables the person to legally access the entire information downloaded from an Internet site while being offline. This is very important for those who require information access on a daily and regular basis. In a location of irregular Internet access or perhaps expensive Internet access because of a natural disaster or conflict for instance people can still get most of their information needs offline and require less amount of time to update Internet sites which are already on the ReservaNet. What this means is that if the person only has access to the Internet for a fraction of the time as prior due to a prevailing situation, the person is able to update the ReservaNet and access all the information offline. For Internet sites that are programmed in the settings of the ReservaNet, the updating is immediately the ReservaNet is online. 

This provides people with the access to the Internet if in a situation or condition that the Internet access is infrequent which makes it ideal for an alternative economy. The ReservaNet is not intended to operate without a permanent access to the Internet though it would still function but with older information. However what it does do very well is to provide the most up-to-date information offline with much less browsing time required on the Internet which is ideal if there are constraints on always on Internet or 24 hours a day Internet as a result of some form of adverse situation perhaps a natural disaster or a conflict. 

The ReservaNet works also with social media sites and email sites in terms of legally accessing information that is already available on the social media and a person's information on the social media. However messages and latest information flows are feasible when online. However if the ReservaNet is online it is able to update email and social media account information and if a person has prepared messages offline those can be sent online rather promptly. This enables those with limited or irregular Internet access to still be able to make communications through the Internet and achieve that, only that such communications would be whenever there is available Internet access and not at any time of the day as in where there are 24 hours Internet services available. 

This means that a person who has a ReservaNet can still browse social media sites and access the information flows or feeds offline, however the new flows or feeds can only be accessed when online. 

This recommendation ensures that even in the event of just a few hours of Internet access a day or less than that the people who have ReservaNet are able to access every information on Internet sites they usually or have visited recently and access as much information as a person online would with the exception of what has been posted online since the last time the ReservaNet was online. 

In this manner the ReservaNet is a perfect device for both the regular economy and the alternative economy. One massive thing it does is to save people the time for accessing information from Internet sites that are programmed or visited recently. This means that users don't download that information every time they visit the site because it is already on the ReservaNet. Therefore it is available and is accessible very quickly and also ensures considerable financial resources savings from Internet data usage. Therefore this has real applications and benefits in the regular economy as well as the alternative economy. 

This recommendation should be in my opinion a device that every Internet user has which can store data from any device that they use to legally access the Internet. The ReservaNet is in practice a very high capacity data storage device that is small and easy to carry that enables people to have access to the Internet at all times even when they are offline for whatever reason to a large percentage of information that is actually online in locations that interest them online. This is a very important recommendation and device in my opinion.

Those recommended may choose to cooperate with each other to implement this recommendation or implement this on their own as they desire.

The name RESERVANET is recommended but not compulsory. 

Those recommended can develop this solution for export to other nations and markets to earn revenues from its manufacture and sales. Any nation that freely desires that may also legally support poorer nations.
